My weekly blog

Hello,

so another blog week. Firstly i would like to say there has been some family issues and i have been distracted from my work. However i had to continue with everything else.

To begin with i have the final concert for i the kirkcaldy youth wind band on friday. I am very excited to see my students perform. We have all put in many hours of hard work and effort for these concerts. It will be a thrill and a joy to watch the final outcome of all the hard work put towards the students. I have been informed that i would be offered a teaching place next year with the same year group. The only problem is that i cant teach next year as i have to move on to the next step of my own carrer.

At college we have been so stressed with the work load that we have and i feel like i cant cope with it but i have to in order to pass my HND. So firstly, we have a new band at college, it going really well. WE have a diversity of songs and to be honest i have never heard most of them in my life but i have persevered and they are turning out really well. We have a good band to. I have not worked with any of these students before apart from one so its a new experiance in itself. This is useful towards my graded unit as i have the experiance of playing with other students that i have not already.
Secondly I have learned so much in session skills about asession and how skilled you need to be to play. The sessions have been enjoyable but there was always problems with them. These problem have helped me to realize what skills i have developed towards my graded unit. Such skills as working to a deadline and being skilled in your playing abilities in such a way that you will be able to deal with difficult problems with ease.

Finaly, at home there is some family issues and to be honest it is a nightmare being a student when things like this happen. It is helping me to understand what it is like to organise myself better, as the quicker i get things done the better because i will not have to deal with issues. Being organised is a skill required to become an instrumental instructor as it is needed to deal with student lessons as well as homework.

Well that about all i can say this week. Speak soon.

A very long blog!!!!

so i should probably say its been a long time since i wrote on my blog, which is bad i know. However i am wrtting it all now.

So college to begin with. well we have just had a lovely 2 weeks off for easter and it was fabulous. However i have the remainder of a HND to complete and this is just one of the many many things i must complete to pass. Anyway college has been consistent in the past few weeks. The gig in glasgow was amazing. I could not have enjoyed it better. The audience were enjoying our performance so much which made me get really into performing. I feel we had just worked so hard for the gig and we played our best on the night. I have found a new confidence in myself which will be useful towards my graded unit as i can use this confidence in teaching and speaking to studentd calmly and proffesionaly. Further more college leacturs gave us a rundown of what we need to do to pass this year and it is going to be jam packed full, however i feel this will be a test of our motivation and organisational skill which is also a skill required as an instrumental instuctor.

In my work for the past while i have had to work under new supervision as our boss has taken ill but is on the mend. However i found it hard to deal with the new manager and it caused a lot of tension in the shop, i feel this was because the new manager works so differently from our boss and i was finding it hard to deal with the change. I soon came to realize that i would have to get used to the new way in the shop otherwise i would be out of a job and so i did. This has been a possitive step for me as i feel i am a better person. It has also been a learning curve as well. This experiance is useful towards my graded unit because as an instrumental instuctor you need to adapt quickly to unforseen curcimstances and i feel that in time i will be able to handle this skill.

As for my teaching, it is going very very well. we are just about to have our last performance "lets go musical". I feel i have gained alot of musical experiance as well as teaching experiance from working in kirkcaldy and i hope to maintain the knowledge i have gained until next year. I have also began to teach or more so help my sister and her friends with there theory in music for standard grade. Although its not anything drastic in teaching but every experiance counts and it we be helpful in my portfolio for graded unit as i can show i have experiance in teaching.

So that is about all i can say for this while but i will be keeping a weekly routine now.

Speak soon.
